Who we are

Pitch Latvia is a TechChill community initiative. Your data controller is TechChill Foundation (nodibinājums “TechChill”), reg. no. 40008257917, Lastādijas iela 12 k-3, Rīga, LV-1050, Latvia. Contact: info@techchill.co.

What we collect

We collect your pitch text and versions, name, email, optional company and job title, votes and duels. For security, we use hashed IP addresses and hashed emails for rate limiting, and an automated bot check. Pitches rejected by moderation are not stored. We also collect friends’ email addresses you invite: we send one message and keep only a hashed copy to prevent repeat emails. We also collect the measurement data described below.

Why we use data and on what basis

Taking part, verification, sign-in, voting and your profile are part of providing the service you ask for (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)). Publishing your pitch with your name is your choice when you submit.

Moderation, abuse and fraud prevention, and rate limits serve our legitimate interest in keeping the initiative safe and fair (Article 6(1)(f)). Sending a friend invitation serves a legitimate interest on behalf of the inviting user (Article 6(1)(f)); recipients can opt out via the link in the message. Anonymous cookieless measurement serves our legitimate interest in knowing how the site is used; you can object at any time. Analytics cookies and session replay rely on your consent (Article 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time.

What is public

Your pitch text, name, and company and job title if given appear next to ranked pitches. Your email is never shown.

Measurement

Without cookies, we count page views and steps using a temporary identifier derived on the analytics server from technical data and a key that changes daily. It cannot link visits across days, and nothing is stored on your device for this measurement.

With your consent, we also use analytics cookies and masked session replay: text and inputs are hidden. An opaque analytics identifier connects your visits when you are signed in. We never send your pitch text, name, email, company or job title to analytics.

You can withdraw consent or object at any time via “Cookie settings”. Choose “Decline” to keep only cookieless measurement, or “Turn off all measurement” to stop it all.

Who processes data for us

Our providers act on our instructions under data processing agreements.

• Hosting, database and security provider: data stored in the EU.
• Email delivery provider: EU.
• Automated moderation services: receive only the pitch text and may be located in the United States.
• Product analytics provider: EU.

Transfers outside the EEA

Only pitch text is sent to moderation services that may be in the United States. These transfers are protected by Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

How long we keep data

Unconfirmed submissions, with the related name and email: 7 days. Sign-in links: 24 hours, deleted after use or expiry. Sessions: 30 days. Rate-limit records: 7 days. Invite records: 30 days; opt-outs kept so we never email you again. Published pitches, their versions and your profile: until you ask us to delete them or the initiative ends. Analytics data: up to 12 months.

Your rights

You can ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your data, object to processing, and withdraw consent. Withdrawing consent does not affect earlier lawful processing. Email info@techchill.co; we answer within one month and may need to verify your identity.

You can complain to the Data State Inspectorate (Datu valsts inspekcija): www.dvi.gov.lv.
